Modifications made easy. Virtually all of the small house plans featured through our web site can be modified to accommodate your requirements for your new home.
Most requests for modifications are simple, affordable, and can be done in a reasonable amount of time. An example of a simple modification would be, adding a doorway or resizing a wall.

From time to time, we receive requests for major modifications, such as increasing square footage of a home or roof rafter layout. Such requests are few, however, require more time to complete due to their complexity.
If you are considering on having modifications to a house plan made by a designer in your area, it may be in your best interest to order CAD files for that plan.

What is Red-Lining"?
The most common modification made to house plans is called ”Red-lining”. Changes to the plan are made directly on the set of plans using a red pencil or red ink. “Red-lining” is an acceptable method of modifying a plan for a myriad of changes that will not compromise the structural integrity of the home, including relocating walls that are “non-load-bearing”. You can make changes to the locations of windows and doors. You can include or remove a fireplace. There are many other options. Your experienced contractor will know your local codes requirements and will be able to do the “red-lining” for you. Be sure to check your local codes office to determine if this is an expectable method of plan modifications in your area. |
